Roadworthy (RWC) in Dandenong South
We arrange your RWC assessment with fully licensed vehicle testers.
Blackstone Auto Group in Dandenong South arranges roadworthy (RWC) assessments with fully licensed vehicle testers. In Victoria, only a Licensed Vehicle Tester can inspect a vehicle and issue a Certificate of Roadworthiness, so we organise the assessment with a licensed tester and keep you updated along the way.
When you need a roadworthy
A Certificate of Roadworthiness is generally needed when a registered vehicle is sold, when an unregistered vehicle is being registered again, and to clear some vehicle defect notices. If you're selling, check the current timing rules with the Department of Transport and Planning: the certificate has to be recent when the transfer is lodged.
What the assessment covers
A roadworthy checks that the vehicle is safe to use on the road. It looks at safety items such as wheels and tyres, steering, suspension and brakes, seats and seatbelts, lights and reflectors, the windscreen, windows and wipers, and the vehicle's structure. It isn't a full check of mechanical condition or reliability. If you're buying a used car, a pre-purchase inspection answers different questions.
If something doesn't pass
The tester lists the items that need attention. We can quote to fix them at our workshop, and nothing is repaired without your approval. Once the work is done, the vehicle can be presented again.
What affects the cost
The tester's inspection fee, plus the cost of any repairs needed to meet the requirements. We'll tell you what we know about costs when you book, before anything goes ahead.

Questions about roadworthy (RWC)
Do you issue roadworthy certificates yourselves?
No. We arrange the assessment with fully licensed vehicle testers, who inspect the vehicle and issue the certificate. We can quote and carry out any repairs the tester lists, with your approval.
Is a roadworthy the same as a full mechanical inspection?
No. A roadworthy checks safety items so the vehicle can be registered or transferred. It doesn't assess overall mechanical condition. If you're buying a car, ask about a pre-purchase inspection.
What should I bring?
The vehicle, its keys, and any paperwork you have about recent repairs. If a defect notice is involved, bring that too so the right items are checked.
